STUDIO SALLY’s Vegetable Garden
Hello, this is Manami. It is still extremely hot these days right? Today, I wanted to tell the story of our cultivation of spices in our studio garden. STUDIO SALLY has a balcony where we grow a variety of plants and herbs. Among them are jalapeños and chili peppers which we have sown from seeds for the past few months …
Cute and colorful spices from Mexico!
Originally, these jalapeño and chili peppers where brought by our manager Melisa on her way back home from Mexico. These became very precious seeds for our staff since they were brought all the way from Mexico into our garden. For this reason, we cooperated to cultivate these little seedlings. These seeds were planted in the spring and in spite of tremendous worry whether our hard work would pay off, they germinated safely. The plants began growing beyond our imagination and we had to keep repotting them repeatedly along with the exposed threat of aphid attacks…! Once the weather began to get hotter, they gradually began to produce flowers and then fruits. We had many ups and downs but now half of our balcony is filled with these awesome little spices!
And now we harvest and characterize!
And now we have the creation of some new characters that were inspired by our adventures with our new little Mexican spice friends. I created these characters named “Chili Pepper” and “Peño” by using their actual form and making each one unique with their own personality. Now “Chili Pepper” and “Peño” are deeply loved by STUDIO SALLY staff, who represent our new Mexican spices.
We are currently sharing the “spice love” with our friends and neighbors so they can also experience a little piece of Mexico right here in Japan.
Well, at least this was the highlight of our summer!
